Images of some of the special features of the Børresen enclosures, such as the ventilated chamber for the tweeter with the elegant, lateral sound guide and the perforated plate for damping the bass/midrange unit which comes to be mounted in front of it, can be found in the first part of the company report on page 6. Of course, the Danish speaker specialists also offer matching stands for their two-way monitor – that happens to be the official designation of the 01. The top plate of the stand as well as the bottom of the speaker cabinet feature three recesses which accomodate for the Ansuz Darkz feet. The Silver Supreme edition includes the T2 Supreme, the highest-graded variant of the decoupling elements to date. In their continual pursuit of improvements, Ansuz also produced a small number of Darkz feet made of tungsten, which are said to have clear sonic advantages over their siblings. However, the processing of the material proved so difficult that they are not being included in the portfolio. Far more promising turned out the experiments with zirconium, as Morton Thyrrested reported. When the 01 happened to be shipped, the zirconium version of the Darkz wasn’t yet available as standard, which is why I can look forward to having each speaker equipped with three of the rare Darkz made of tungsten, but they probably will drive the price of the 01 Silver Supreme up by another few thousand euros.
Transporting the 01s and its stands from the photo studio to my listening room didn't cause the slightest problems due to the moderate weight of both speaker and stand. It was, however, difficult, even impossible, to find a mechanically and qualitatively suitable speaker cable in my inventory for connecting the 01 to the power amplifier: One option could have been the absolutely impressive Audioquest Dragon, but it only suits transducers with bi-wiring terminals that solely accept spades. As the 01 dispenses with these, the Goebel Lacorde Statement drops out of the running as well. Morten Thyrrested, who by the way is firmly convinced that banana plugs are sonically far superior to spades, immediately shipped out an Ansuz Speakz D2, which however needs low-frequency voltage from an Ansuz PowerBox or a PowerSwitch for optimal operation. Fortunately, the PowerSwitch D-TC Supreme was still waiting in the warehouse to be returned, so it made its comeback in my listening room, but only in its function as a low-frequency AC power source.
