It might well be the case that the Explorer deploys a slightly darker intonation than its silver Siltech siblings, but even during the massive dynamic entries in Tchaikovsky's Pathétique, the sound remains free, warm and, above all, exceptionally beautiful. If I had only gone through the listenings with the Explorer, I would not have missed anything. For it does justice to this music to such an extent as if it had been made for it. I go ahead enjoying the entire symphony and then switch over to "Calypso Minor." There is no true three-dimensionality here due to the recording itself, but the spatial order is at least on a par with the Classic. The striking difference between the two cables is the higher degree of warmth that the Explorer entails. It really proves difficult for me to make a comparative assessment of the sonic image. The silver of the Classic Anniversary probably involved a clearer gradation between the individual musicians. To me, in addition, the Anniversary seems to let the music play a little more light-footed. In contrast, the Explorer offers a good warmth that doesn't feel like it's covering anything, but doesn't gleam too brightly either. With the Explorer 45, we're talking about a third of the price, which, if you didn't know it, might pull a surprise to you. All three cables bear this unobtrusiveness and composure, which doesn’t impede an acoustic spontaneity in the music at all – quite the contrary: Strength is born of composure. And that proves true with all three Siltech cables. I wish that in the not too distant future I would get the opportunity to try out my entire system with Siltech wiring provenient from one product line. After having gained this experience, that should come in as a revelation.
