At the end of October, we finally managed to personally present the winners with the Statements in High Fidelity│German Edition 2021, which was actually due in May, and because of this, we fell a little behind schedule with the announcement of the winners of the Polish Edition: This was to take place during the Audio Video Show in Warsaw, which was unfortunately cancelled again.
After Nordost's resonance synchroniser Q-Point, the CD-player bolides from Gryphon and Ayon as well as a phono stage of superlatives, the RCM Big Phono, our colleague Wojciech Pacuła has chosen Siltech's cable series Classic Legend. He not only tested the loudspeaker and LF cables of the highest of the three quality levels of this series, the 880 line, but also, together with the Krakow Sonic Society, received detailed first-hand information about the entire Classic Legend series from company co-owner Edwin van der Kley and marketing and sales manager Gaby van der Kley. You will soon be able to read the test here, the report about Siltech at the Krakow Sonic Society is unfortunately only available in English. You can already read in Wolfgang Kemper's large Siltech NF cable test what impression the RCA and XLR ribbons of the medium quality level, the 680 line, left on him. From the fact that he purchased the two Classic Legend cables after the report, one may conclude that he thoroughly agrees with Wojciech Pacuła's choice.
While my colleague shows the first signs of becoming a serial offender by receiving awards for two high-end CD players in a row, I am showing similar tendencies: After the award for Audioquest's "LowZ/Noise-Dissipation" network technology, the Melco LAN switch, which is still halfway affordable compared to the products of SoTM and Ansuz, Transrotor's first tonearm and Ferrum's immensely flexible Hypsos power supply, this time I again opted for a rotary tonearm: the almost tangentially tracking Thiele TA01 - the maximum tracking error angle here is an infinitesimally small 0.036 degrees. I was impressed not only by the mechanically sophisticated parallelogram construction - already apparent eight years ago in the prototype stage - but above all by the TA02's sonic performance and its compatibility with a variety of different pick-up systems. By the way, a test of the arm in combination with the Thiele TT01 turntable is scheduled for the near future.
Congratulations to the winners!
